It was only a matter of time before the once metalcore (one of the first people, remember that when listening to your As I Lay Dying albums) act went completely metal and in doing so lost a bit of their keener song writing abilities in the process. "The Oncoming Storm" was the album that propelled them into their success, the type success for Unearth anyway, and "III: In The Eyes Of Fire" will push them further into that success. At the same time they are becoming popular in the midst of all of this new found love for metal that the Hot Topic consumers and Ozzfest no nothings are indulging in, the band has lost that special feel that "The Stings of Consciousness" and even "The Fall of Man" EP possessed.

"III: In the Eyes of Fire" is the band's ultimate turn into a full blown metal band which can be a good thing in that we need more better abled metal acts out there besides those dip shits in Avenged Sevenfold and the now nu-Pantera Lamb of God have been producing. Yet, the negatives are entirely clear with this new album as the group is just running the mill with material from "The Oncoming Storm" and there aren't any stand out tracks on this new offering. Every song sounds like another metal song by another metal band, but one thing still remains; these guys can play very well which is shown on every release.

This new craving for metal has caused alot of once notable acts of the underground to come up on top and that's not a bad thing in any way, it was bound to happen. What is a bad thing is when the music suffers so regardless of Unearth's success, "III: In The Eyes of Fire" just doesn't carry that thrill anymore.
