And to think, there was a time I didn’t like Knut. I never saw the appeal until a particular day when I experienced them in a particular condition, and from that day I should’ve asked for forgiveness in doubting such an act as Knut.

Switzerland’s finest are back with “Terraformer”, an album which keeps the heavy stride of the band moving relentlessly. Any fan of the band knows the capability of their power, their usage of grooves and hooking techniques in the way of progressive thundering riffs that can catch you at any moment. Like the previous Knut releases, this album is no different; it will still collapse your insides with its raw but well sounded power.

Knut are a band that much change doesn’t occur in their sound but it’s rather how they go about using their sound when a new album comes out. At any given time the band will make things heavier in a fast way or drop it all with bulldozer powered sludge or they might even just fall away into an open area of ambience. These qualities that make up Knut is no what makes them so powerful, it’s the way in which they place these grandiose parts while still keeping the heavier side of things. Always a band for the atmosphere the album’s shorter tracks like “Seattle” and “Torvalds” contain that huge sound though they are of the faster paced songs, those fast paces usually give way to some slower riff equally engrossing. Knut keep up their masterminding with “Terraformer” the only way Knut know how to.

If you are not privy to this act make yourself familiar, I almost neglected a great act once, don’t do what I almost did. Any fan of Old Man Gloom, Isis, or Beather Resist would benefit from checking out Knut.
