Complementary melodies peppered with anguished, screaming vocals make up the virtual heartbeat of Silverstein and their latest effort, “Discovering The Waterfront” is yet further evidence that this band is one of the best at their craft today.

Featuring stellar production, deeply impassioned performances and critical attention to dramatic nuances, this is a hands-down superfluously well-crafted album that will light the request lines at college and rock radio bright enough for program directors to gain a suntan.

An album that is accessible enough to garner mainstream airplay, yet ballsy enough to retain underground credibility, “Discovering The Waterfront” finds Silverstein further evolving into an even more mature, learned style of songwriting that is deliberately infectious and potently ear-catching.

Vocalist Shane Todd has the type of singing voice that makes the girls wet in their nether-regions, while his virulent screams are forceful and openly angry enough to get the boys nodding their heads in concurrence as well. “Defend You” ignites with an up-tempo introduction that is sure to scare up a frenzy of skanking mayhem, while “Smile In Your Sleep” is the obvious first single, being textured and sonically dramatic in congruence as bassist Billy Hamilton and drummer Paul Koehler lay down a substantially pulsating rhythm.

Tracks like “The Ides Of March”, “My Heroine” and “Always And Never” are of the caliber to create substantial memories for many a young music lover, certainly this is a record that will become the soundtrack to many listener’s lives this autumn. Don’t you dare miss either this record or the band’s upcoming tour, as it is certain that this period of the band’s career will be something to remember.
