Yes, Donnybrook does pack one hell of a punch! If you take pleasure in the pure, roots-oriented hardcore that bands like Terror and Champion bash out, then Donnybrook are right up your alley. With a solitary listen to this brawling romp, you'll be hooked on the band's energy-laden, scrappy sound. 'Lions In This Game' is mixed fabulously, with an upfront barrage of frenzied beats and busy power chords busting through the mix on tracks such as the instant anthem 'Down For The Core' and the positively killer 'Purify.' Donnybrook are at their best when they are kicking out a bulldozing barrage, as they do so well on the very well put together 'Get Real.' Dre Stewart's vocals are in your face and completely unforgiving. The vocalist gives a particularly burly performance on District 9's 'Victim', but he remains consistently aggressive throughout the course of the record. Scott and Nick from Terror pop in for some guest vocals on 'Techno-Logic-Kill', a track with some principally poignant lyrical ranting about those who mislead and antagonize others on the Internet. 'House Of Rage' is an undeniably stomping cut, with Corey from Internal Affairs joining in on the fray. Brandishing an assaultive, pugilistic attack, 'Lions In The Game' shows Donnybrook as stepping up to the forefront of hardcore with a cocky, assertive presence that will most certainly get the circle pits whipped up into a tornado of sweat and blood when these guys hit the road. An extremely suggested hardcore album.
